About Us

Who We Are

A church isn’t a building, it’s a collection of people. And we are a small collection of God’s people from Big Cabin, Vinita, Claremore, and the Chelsea area. We gather together each Sunday at 11:05 a.m.

What We Believe

Big Cabin UMC is all about loving God and people. People who think the church isn’t for them. People who’ve been hurt by the church and stayed away.  People who’ve gone to church all their lives and are looking for a new faith home.

Our vision is to see those who feel disconnected from God and the church find hope, healing, and wholeness in Jesus Christ.  This vision drives everything we do.  Whether you feel disconnected from God, or have a heart for those who do, Big Cabin UMC is for you.

What We Do

Our vision is, in summary, for every person in our community to know and experience Christ. Our mission is what we plan to do about it. At Big Cabin UMC, our mission is to seek God, welcome people, offer Christ, and respond by serving. What does that mean?

    • Seek God. Jesus says the most important thing we can do is love God. We do this together each week in our Sunday worship services. Our style of worship, we hope, is relevant and meaningful to everyone who joins in. We do incorporate traditional forms of worship such as liturgy and hymns. We celebrate Holy Communion together twice a month on the first and third Sundays.
    • Welcome People. Our church welcomes and values all people. We are made up of individuals and families of all ages. Come as you are and find a place to connect with God and with others like you.
    • Offer Christ. We believe that only Jesus can truly change lives. Only a relationship with Him allows us to grow into the people we were made to be. We offer Bible studies in the spring and fall in which the local community is invited to participate.
    • Respond by Serving. We believe that worship should not be confined to the walls of a building. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus wherever we are. We are a church that can be found serving God and others in our workplaces and schools and where we have fun.
